PRF Update

RMA has announced two key updates to all PRF (Pasture, Rangeland & Forage) policies beginning with the 2027 crop year, and producers should be aware of how these changes may affect their coverage. First, RMA has implemented a new 25% stocking rate rule for grazing acres. This means producers must have enough livestock to equal at least 25% of the average stocking rate for the acres they insure, ensuring PRF grazing coverage is tied to actual livestock use on the land. Second, RMA has added a 25% cap on the January–February interval, limiting producers to placing no more than a quarter of their total PRF value in that winter period. This change is designed to balance coverage across the year and reduce over‑concentration in historically high‑risk intervals. Both updates aim to keep PRF aligned with true forage use and seasonal rainfall patterns while maintaining program integrity for all producers.

A reminder that PRF (Pasture, Rangeland & Forage) acres and all application changes are due by December 1st, 2026. If you need to add or remove acres, update grazing or haying intentions, or make any other adjustments to your PRF policy, please contact our office before the deadline so we can ensure your coverage is accurate for the 2027 crop year.

Winter Wheat Producers

Please remember to report your planted winter wheat acres to both our office and your local FSA by November 15th, 2026. Timely reporting keeps your coverage accurate and ensures all acres are properly documented for the upcoming crop year.

Production Reporting

As we wrap up fall harvest, please remember to report your wheat and forage production to our office by November 15th, 2026. Timely production reporting helps us verify any losses and keep your coverage accurate. We also encourage you to continue reporting all other harvested crops as soon as they’re finished so we can review yields and complete any necessary claims without delay.
